U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) endorsed Blake Masters for the open seat in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, saying Masters is the "conservative fighter we need in the House."

“Blake is the conservative fighter we need in the House to combat the extreme liberal policies of Joe Biden and to put the GOP establishment in its place,” said Vance. “He will fight for Arizona’s 8th district and be the ally I need in the House to secure our border, defend our families, bring our jobs home, and restore America to greatness.”

Vance, 38, was first elected to serve Ohio in the U.S. Senate in the Nov. 2022 General Election. He defeated U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), winning 53% to Ryan’s 47%.

Vance served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2003 to 2007, graduated from Ohio State University, and received a J.D. from Yale University Law School.

He also is the author of the the 2016 book, “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis,” which reached The New York Times Bestseller list in 2016 and 2017.

Arizona’s 8th Congressional District is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko (R), who announced earlier this month that she will be retiring at the end of the current term.

Masters ran for U.S. Senate in 2022, losing to incumbent U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly (D) by a vote of 51.4% to 46.5%. Kelly reportedly outspent Masters by $66 million in that race.

After growing up and attending high school in Tucson, Masters graduated from Stanford University and received his J.D. from Stanford Law School. He then co-founded legal research startup Judicata.

He is co-author of the bestselling business book, “Zero to One: Notes on a Startup” with Peter Thiel, and served as president of the Thiel Foundation.

Masters married his wife, Catherine, in 2012 and they have three sons.
