The cost of cereal in Arizona has increased by 303% since 2020.
That’s according to an analysis of Fry’s Food Stores' grocery ads by Grand Canyon Times.
A 12 oz. box of Post® cereal at the supermarket chain cost $3.99 as of February 6, 2024, which is $3.00 more than the $0.99 for the same size box of cereal on February 2, 2020.
That marks a total increase of 303% for cereal since 2020 at Fry’s, outpacing the supposed 2.7% inflation rate for food for the last year, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Headquartered in Tolleson, Ariz., Fry's Food Stores operates as a chain of 120 supermarkets across the state.
Founded in 1954 by Donald Fry in California, the company expanded into Arizona by 1960. Kroger Co. acquired Fry's in 1983, integrating it into one of the largest supermarket chains in the United States.
