The American Automobile Association (AAA) announced that Arizona’s average gas price fell to $3.09 per gallon, down from $5.39 in 2022, amid increased U.S. oil production.

According to a January report by AAA, Arizona’s current gas average reflects a nearly 44% decrease from the state’s highest average of $5.388 per gallon recorded in 2022. It also represents a decline of over 2% compared to last year’s national average of $3.068. The Town of Paradise Valley Independent reported that gas prices have fallen by 26 cents over the past month, with Peoria offering the lowest prices at $3.01 per gallon and Scottsdale having the highest at $3.22.

The Town of Paradise Valley Independent further noted that as the new year begins, Arizona’s gas prices have dropped by 2 cents. Peoria continues to maintain the lowest average at $3.01 per gallon, while Scottsdale remains the highest at $3.22.

The Kobeissi Letter said on social media that current gas prices are at their lowest since 2021, with AAA reporting a national average of $2.81 per gallon. This marks an 8% reduction from last year’s average and a substantial 43% decrease from the peak in 2022 under Biden-era restrictions. The Kobeissi Letter projects U.S. households will save approximately $11 billion on gasoline in 2026 compared to 2025 due to these trends.

Founded in 1902 by nine motor clubs in Chicago, Illinois, AAA was created to address the need for improved roads and support for automobile owners. Today, it is a not-for-profit federation serving over 60 million members across the United States and Canada, providing services such as roadside assistance and travel planning while advocating for safe mobility.
