America250 is set to launch a new program, Our American Story, as part of the preparations for the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026. The initiative will begin on July 28 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., featuring remarks from America250 Chair Rosie Rios and Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

The event will include a preview of mobile Airstream recording studios and the first official story recordings from Commissioners and community leaders. Our American Story aims to collect and preserve thousands of personal stories nationwide, creating an extensive archive of oral and visual histories. These stories will be stored at the Library of Congress and shared through various media platforms.

The ceremonial kickoff is scheduled for Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11:00 am ET at the National Mall’s 6th Street Panel. Additional elected officials and notable figures are expected to participate.

America250’s mission is to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence by fostering programs that educate and unite Americans while celebrating the nation’s history and resilience.
