Ned Ryun, founder and CEO of American Majority, has asserted that the crisis at the southern border is a deliberate strategy rather than a result of incompetence or an overwhelmed system. He articulated this perspective in his Substack essay titled “The Border Disaster Wasn’t a Mistake — It Was Strategy.”

“Washington’s ruling class wants you to believe the border crisis is incompetence,” said Ryun, Founder & CEO. “They shrug, offer excuses, and claim the system is simply “overwhelmed. Don’t buy it. The collapse at the southern border was deliberate.”

According to Ryun, the collapse of the southern border is part of a strategic effort aimed at expanding the administrative state. He explained that increased illegal crossings provide justification for more funding, additional federal programs, expanded bureaucracy, and greater dependency, which he refers to as strengthening “Leviathan.”

Ryun highlighted that nearly 300 executive orders were issued during the first year of the Biden Administration. He linked these orders to changes in border security, arguing they weakened enforcement and expanded incentives for illegal immigration. Additionally, billions of federal dollars were directed to nongovernmental organizations involved in immigration work.

The inclusion of noncitizens in the 2020 census population totals was another point raised by Ryun. He described this decision as having significant political and financial consequences. The count influenced the apportionment of electoral votes, House seats, and distribution of federal resources, with nearly $3 trillion allocated based on those numbers.

Ryun is recognized for his role as a conservative strategist and leader of American Majority, an organization he founded in 2008. His background includes serving as a speechwriter for President George W. Bush and maintaining influence in conservative grassroots training and political commentary.
