Arizona Corporation Commission Chairman Nick Myers announced on Apr. 10 that he will host the third annual Wildfire Mitigation Special Meeting and Town Hall next week in Phoenix. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Arizona Corporation Commission building located at 1200 W. Washington Street.

The meeting aims to bring together community members, regulated utilities, and other stakeholders to discuss efforts and technologies related to wildfire prevention and mitigation. Virtual participation options are available for those unable to attend in person, including a livestream at http://www.azcc.gov/live and a dial-in phone number.

Chairman Myers said, ā€œSustained progress in wildfire mitigation in Arizona will depend not only on ongoing collaboration among all stakeholders, but also on the availability and use of new technologies that can help prevent, detect, and mitigate wildfires.ā€ He added that this year’s presentations will be interactive and educational, featuring updates from regulated utilities as well as other key participants.

Public input is encouraged during the town hall portion of the meeting. According to Myers, feedback from attendees will assist the commission in evaluating how prepared utilities are for potential wildfires throughout Arizona.
