The Arizona Department of Public Safety announced on Apr. 2 that detectives from its State Gang Task Force arrested six suspects in the area of Camelback Road and 35th Avenue in Phoenix during an operation related to suspected drug trafficking.

The case is significant due to the seizure of approximately 4.4 pounds of suspected fentanyl powder and an AR15 rifle with a drum magazine, which authorities say pose a threat to community safety. The suspects include five adults and one juvenile, all facing charges such as possession of a narcotic drug for sale. Five individuals are identified as documented transnational gang members.

Officials said this investigation highlights coordinated efforts by the State Gang Task Force to address gang-related crime and remove dangerous drugs and weapons from neighborhoods.

“This case demonstrates the strong, coordinated efforts of the State Gang Task Force. Detectives’ work led to the removal of dangerous drugs and a high-capacity weapon from the community,” said officials in their statement.

The department also acknowledged assistance received from other law enforcement partners during this investigation.

Authorities have not released further details about ongoing proceedings or additional suspects but reiterated their commitment to combating organized crime in Arizona.
