On January 17, 2026, a trooper from Highway Patrol District Six in Casa Grande stopped a white Chevrolet Tahoe on westbound Interstate 10 near milepost 200 for an equipment violation. During the stop, the trooper requested support from a Drug Enforcement Bureau trooper with the Southern Canine District.
The officers noticed signs of possible criminal activity and obtained consent to search the vehicle. A canine unit helped conduct the search, which led to the discovery of about 40.5 pounds of cocaine hidden in a compartment inside the center console.
Detectives from the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Pinal Narcotics Squad assisted with further investigation. One person was arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail on related charges.
“This seizure represents a significant disruption to the illegal drug supply and underscores the ongoing commitment of AZDPS to keeping Arizona’s communities safe,” according to officials.
