The Arizona Department of Transportation announced on April 28 that a ten-mile stretch of State Route 72 through Bouse has received new surface asphalt, guardrails, and other upgrades following an $8.8 million improvement project.

The project began last August and involved milling and replacing the existing pavement between mileposts 20 and 30. In addition to new guardrails and end terminals, crews installed fencing, signage, and pavement markings as part of the rehabilitation effort. The department said these improvements benefit residents in the area as well as others who use SR 72, which connects US 60 near Vicksburg with State Route 95 south of Parker. The work also supports ADOT’s commitment to maintaining highway infrastructure.

Arizona Department of Transportation managed various facilities across the state including rest areas, snowplow operations with specialized equipment, and highway cameras for monitoring according to the official website. The department aimed to safely link individuals and bolster the economy through its transportation initiatives according to its official website.

Jennifer Toth served as director of Arizona Department of Transportation, overseeing planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of transportation systems statewide according to the official website. The agency extended its efforts across multiple districts in Arizona—from projects at Grand Canyon National Airport to southern border ports—as reported by its official site.

ADOT worked alongside regional, state, local and tribal partners on corridor studies and traveler information systems according to its official website. Services offered included traveler updates via AZ511 system as well as motor vehicle support services; it also oversaw construction projects and infrastructure enhancements at airports and ports throughout Arizona as stated by ADOT’s site.
