Arizona’s local governments and nonprofits will be receiving funds from a $600 million coronavirus relief and recovery program that Gov. Doug Ducey enacted on May 27, according to a press release from the governor.

Any towns, cities and counties that haven’t received funds from the federal government will be receiving part of the $441 million set aside, according to the press release. Another $150 million will be used for the Arizona Express Pay Program, which will help speed up FEMA funding.

Much of Arizona’s federal funding is going directly to local governments, unlike other states, according to the press release. Of the federal CARES Act funding, approximately 50% in Arizona are going directly to local governments, which is the highest in the nation. Kansas (49.28%), Alaska (45.49%) and Hawaii (45.05%) give the next highest amount of federal funding to local governments.
