The Arizona Republican Party has responded to the findings of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) concerning the Tolleson Union High School District (TUHSD). The committee’s review highlighted issues including unusual real estate transactions, dual roles held by school officials, and conflicts of interest involving the district’s superintendent.
Gina Swoboda, Chairwoman of the Arizona Republican Party, addressed these concerns in a statement. “Transparency and accountability must be the cornerstone of our public institutions. The recent findings of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) regarding Tolleson Union High School District (TUHSD) are deeply concerning. Unusual real estate transactions, questionable dual roles held by public school officials, and disturbing conflicts of interest involving the Superintendent demand immediate answers and corrective action.”
Swoboda emphasized expectations for higher standards in educational leadership. “Arizonans deserve better stewardship of their taxpayer dollars and higher standards from those entrusted to educate our children. The Arizona Republican Party stands firmly for ethical governance, fiscal responsibility, and the integrity of our educational institutions. We will continue advocating for full transparency and accountability, ensuring public officials put students and communities first—not personal profit.”
She called for further inquiry into TUHSD operations. “We urge a thorough investigation to restore trust, safeguard taxpayers, and uphold the integrity of education in Arizona.”
