The Arizona Lottery announced on Mar. 16 that it surpassed $1 billion in total sales for the current fiscal year as of February, marking a 15.8% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. This achievement represents the fastest pace at which the Arizona Lottery has reached this milestone since fiscal year 2023, when it closed with a record-breaking $1.5 billion in total sales.

Lottery officials say this momentum positions Arizona among the top-performing lotteries nationwide and sets the stage for another potential record-breaking revenue year benefiting public programs across the state.

According to data provided by the lottery, growth is particularly strong in instant ticket sales, where Arizona’s Instant Weekly Per Capita (WPC) sales increased by 4% in 2025 while overall U.S. market figures declined by 2.7%. The lottery also reports that total sales are up by over four percent through February of this year, driven partly by a significant rise—46.4%—in multi-state lottery game participation.

Officials note that these gains were achieved without introducing new price points during the current fiscal year—a common strategy used elsewhere to boost short-term growth—suggesting that recent initiatives such as expanded vending machine placements at retailers, digital menu boards, and a new brand platform have contributed to sustained performance.

“Arizona is leading the nation for instant ticket sales growth, and combined with high draw sales in Q2, we’re on track to invest in Arizona communities like never before,” said Alec Thomson, Arizona Lottery Executive Director. “Reaching the $1 billion milestone at this point is a result of our focus on optimizing our operations, increasing support for our valued retail partners, and our work to reimagine how we engage new and longtime players in our products and our mission. Our innovative approach to delivering the lottery experience is resonating with our players and retailers alike and that’s a win for every Arizonan.”

With several months remaining before closing out its fiscal year, officials say they will continue efforts aimed at sustaining growth through ongoing operational improvements.
