Arizona small business owners are urging Governor Katie Hobbs to sign two recently passed bills, HB 2153 and SB 1106, which would align the state’s tax code with federal tax reforms enacted in 2025. Members of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), including John Stuart and Jeff Fleetham, joined legislators at a press conference to highlight the importance of tax conformity for local businesses.

John Stuart stated, “This bill will directly impact the decisions that I, and other small business owners around the state, are making right now. We can’t wait. We need to continue to have the economy grow. I’m willing to do my part and invest. But having certainty and conformity will help with that.”

Jeff Fleetham added, “By having this uncertainty, we’ve added this additional burden to these companies who don’t have the resources to hire tax experts to help them navigate this ridiculous conundrum if our Governor doesn’t sign this.”

The proposed legislation aims to simplify tax filing for Arizona businesses by matching state rules with recent changes at the federal level.
