Arizona Corporation Commission Chairman Nick Myers announced on March 30 that he will host the third annual Wildfire Mitigation Special Meeting and Town Hall in Phoenix. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Arizona Corporation Commission’s Hearing Room 1, located at 1200 W. Washington Street.

The town hall aims to engage the community in discussions about wildfire prevention and preparedness. The meeting will feature interactive presentations from regulated utilities and other stakeholders who will share their efforts in preventing wildfires and implementing new technologies.

“Sustained progress in wildfire mitigation in Arizona will depend not only on ongoing collaboration among all stakeholders, but also on the availability and use of new technologies that can help prevent, detect, and mitigate wildfires,” said Chairman Myers. “I am looking forward to this year’s interactive and educational presentations from our regulated utilities and other key stakeholders, highlighting their wildfire prevention efforts and use of new technologies.”

Myers encouraged public participation at the event, noting that input from attendees would assist the Arizona Corporation Commission as it evaluates how prepared regulated utilities are for wildfire risks.

The commission invites interested individuals to attend or share information about the upcoming meeting with others who may want to participate.
