Chandler employee Chandler Escalante awarded 2026 Workforce Practitioner of the Year

The Arizona Association for Economic Development honored City of Chandler employee Chandler Escalante with the Workforce Practitioner of the Year award at its annual Spring Conference in Tucson, according to an April 20 announcement.

This recognition highlights efforts to improve workforce development and community support in Chandler. The award is given to individuals who make a significant impact on workforce initiatives, build strong relationships, and demonstrate innovation in their field.

Escalante works as Workforce Development Project Manager for the City of Chandler’s Economic Development Division. He developed the Chandler Career Center, a city-supported platform that launched in April 2024 and now serves more than 125 local employers and over 1,200 job seekers. His approach includes personally posting jobs for employers—a service that has helped post around 1,200 positions so far—and offering weekly assistance at the Downtown Chandler Public Library Job Center. He also participates in numerous workforce events and serves on several committees related to economic development.

“I am incredibly honored to have received the 2026 Arizona Association for Economic Development Economic Development Distinguished by Excellence (EDDE) award for Workforce Practitioner of the Year,” said Chandler Escalante. “This recognition reflects the work our team at the City of Chandler Economic Development Division is doing to better connect Chandler-based employers with our local educational institutions and the talent they develop. We remain committed to strengthening our workforce initiatives and continuing to serve the Chandler community in meaningful and impactful ways.”

Chandler hosts family festivals and events that attract visitors, helping it function as a community hub according to its official history page. Dr. A.J. Chandler Park acts as a central gathering place surrounded by shops and historic sites according to city records. The city aims to provide outstanding public services while fostering a unique sense of community as stated on its mission page.

Chandler’s leadership structure allows mayors and council members up to two consecutive four-year terms according to government information. Historically, it was known for ostrich farming used in women’s fashion according to historical sources, while recent growth has expanded city borders with population estimates surpassing 240,000 residents as reported by official history records.
