The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona announced on June 2 that new procedures will apply to all Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases filed on or after June 1, 2026. The Clerk of Court will now set the initial confirmation hearing in the “Notice of Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Case,” which also provides the date for the meeting of creditors under Section 341 of Title 11.

According to the announcement, if a debtor’s plan is timely filed in accordance with Federal Rule of Bankruptcy Procedure (FRBP) 3015 and all objections are resolved by the date of the initial confirmation hearing, the court will consider confirmation at that hearing. If any objections remain pending, the court will treat this initial hearing as a status conference and determine appropriate procedures and scheduling for any continued confirmation hearings.

In connection with amendments to local rules, two new docket-text-only events have been created for use by Chapter 13 Trustees and debtors. The first event is “Waiver of Dismissal Hearing and No Objection to Dismissal of Chapter 13 Case,” located under the Plan category. The second event is “Chapter 13 Trustee Notice to Court that the Motion to Dismiss has been Resolved,” which includes options such as “Request to Vacate Pending Hearing” or “No Hearing Scheduled.” A free-form text field allows entry of a specific hearing date.

For single-case docketing, this event can be found under the Trustee/US Trustee category; it is also available under Batch Events for multi-case docketing.

The court encourages anyone with questions regarding these updates or new docket events to contact its Clerk’s office at azbml_all_dqa@azb.uscourts.gov.
