During the week of July 26 to August 1, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 134 individuals with immigration-related crimes. The office filed 66 cases involving illegal re-entry and charged 57 individuals for illegal entry into the United States. Additionally, there were nine cases against eleven people accused of smuggling others into or within Arizona.

The charges resulted from referrals or support from several federal law enforcement agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Among recent cases:

United States v. Felipe Osuna Hernandez: On July 29, Felipe Osuna Hernandez was charged with Illegal Reentry and Bringing an Illegal Alien into the United States for Profit and While Placing Their Life in Jeopardy. According to authorities, Osuna was arrested on July 26 after acting as a guide for two people crossing from Mexico through the desert without adequate food or water. When one person suffered medical distress, Osuna allegedly threatened them, took their phones to prevent calls for help, and left one individual deceased in the desert.

United States v. Luis Enrique Beltran-Ceballos: On August 1, Luis Enrique Beltran-Ceballos was charged with Bringing an Alien to the United States and Improper Entry by Alien after he reportedly smuggled a twelve-year-old girl across the border wall using a ladder on July 30. After entering the country, Beltran-Ceballos attempted to hide with her in a canal before being apprehended by law enforcement officials.

United States v. Edgar Pedro Hernandez: On August 1, Edgar Pedro Hernandez faced charges of Transporting an Illegal Alien following a traffic stop on July 30 where inconsistencies about his passengers led authorities to determine they were unlawfully present in the country and had arranged transportation after being smuggled across the border.

These actions are part of Operation Take Back America—a national effort led by the Department of Justice that aims to combat illegal immigration as well as organized crime groups.

“A criminal complaint is a formal accusation of criminal conduct. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” stated officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
