During the week of September 6 to September 12, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 215 individuals with immigration-related offenses. Of these, 99 cases involved illegal re-entry into the United States and another 99 involved illegal entry. In addition, prosecutors filed 14 cases against 16 people accused of smuggling undocumented immigrants within the district. One individual was also charged with assaulting a federal officer.

The enforcement actions were supported by several federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Among recent cases:

In United States v. Isaia David Ralph Gutierrez, et al., Isaia David Ralph Gutierrez and Shay Nicole Fernandez were charged on September 10 with Transportation of an Illegal Alien after a Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy stopped their vehicle for traffic violations. The deputy noticed a person in camouflage lying on the rear passenger seat floorboard and suspected human smuggling. U.S. Border Patrol agents determined that this passenger was a Mexican citizen illegally present in the country.

In United States v. Robin Estuardo Perez Ramos, Robin Estuardo Perez Ramos was charged on September 11 with Assault on a Federal Officer. According to authorities, Perez Ramos had previously been ordered removed from the United States in 2020 but fled when ICE/ERO officers attempted to stop him during surveillance operations. He allegedly struck two emergency vehicles while fleeing before being apprehended after entering an apartment without permission.

In United States v. Jose Eulice Arrendondo-Duran, Jose Eulice Arredondo-Duran was charged on September 8 with Re-entry of a Removed Alien. He had previously been deported following felony convictions for conspiracy to violate drug laws and trafficking methamphetamine in Nevada.

These prosecutions are part of Operation Take Back America, which is described as “a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.” The operation combines efforts from Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

“A criminal complaint is a formal accusation of criminal conduct. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
