Drivers along I-40 should plan for restrictions as bridge projects get underway

Drivers traveling along I-40 west of Flagstaff need to be prepared for restrictions at A-1 Mountain Road in west Flagstaff and Exit 123 at Seligman as the Arizona Department of Transportation starts bridge rehabilitation projects.

Beginning Monday, April 18, the westbound I-40 on- and off-ramps at A-1 Mountain Road will be closed through Monday, May 2. Drivers on westbound I-40 looking to access A-1 Mountain Road will be detoured to Hughes Avenue (Exit 185) to turn around and travel east on I-40 to exit at A-1 Mountain Road.

Traffic from A-1 Mountain Road heading westbound on I-40 will first head east on I-40 to Exit 191 to turn around and then head west.

There will also be daytime lane restrictions on I-40 near Seligman as crews begin to construct the detour crossovers prior to the bridge deck replacement work beginning later this summer.

I-40 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between mileposts 122 and 125 beginning Monday, April 18, through Friday, June 10. Drivers should be prepared to slow down and merge through the work zone.

No weekend restrictions are scheduled.
