FOIA Request to Avondale Police Department regarding active employee roster on November 13, 2025.

The Grand Canyon Times has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Avondale Police Department in Arizona. The request seeks access to records under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq., specifically requesting any roster, directory, staffing list, payroll record, or personnel summary that identifies all current employees of the Police Department. The requested information includes details such as name, job title or rank, sex or gender (if available), date of hire or appointment, and age or year of birth (only if this data is included in existing public-facing records).

The request emphasizes a preference for receiving this information in electronic format and asks for the most recent version of each type of roster if multiple versions exist, such as HR rosters, payroll rosters, sworn-officer rosters, and civilian-staff rosters.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, the Grand Canyon Times has also requested a fee waiver. This is based on their role in gathering and reporting news to the public and their affiliation with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
