Former U.S. Rep. George Santos alleged on social media that U.S. Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), fired a staffer after she rejected his sexual advances.
“Breaking: A former staffer of Gallego has claimed he terminated her after he made a sexual advance on her and she rejected him and complained to the then Congressman’s chief of staff… She tells me she’s going public with it in great detail. Stay tuned!” Santos wrote in an April 15 social media post on X. “The whispers of Sen Gallego has always been rampant but if this shoe drops he’s cooked!”
George Santos is a former U.S. representative from New York who served one term in Congress after being elected in 2022. A Republican, he flipped New York’s 3rd Congressional District, but his tenure quickly unraveled amid revelations that he had fabricated major portions of his résumé, including his education, employment history, and personal background. Santos later faced federal charges tied to campaign finance violations and fraud, leading to his expulsion from the House of Representatives in December 2023 following an ethics investigation.
Santos was sentenced to 87 months in prison for committing wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. As part of the sentence, Santos was ordered to pay restitution to his victims in the amount of $373,749.97 and $205,002.97 in forfeiture. Santos pleaded guilty in August 2024 and served three months in prison until U.S. President Donald Trump commuted his sentence in October 2025.
Ruben Gallego is a Democratic U.S. senator from Arizona who took office in 2025 after serving five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War, he entered politics through the Arizona state legislature before winning election to Congress in 2014, where he represented a Phoenix-area district from 2015 to 2025.
Gallego built a political profile centered on veterans’ issues, border security, and economic opportunity, often emphasizing his working-class upbringing as the son of an immigrant single mother. He won election to the Senate in 2024, defeating Republican Kari Lake in one of the cycle’s most closely watched races.
