The Republican Party of Arizona convened its biennial Mandatory Meeting on January 27, 2024, in Phoenix. The event drew more than 1,000 State Committeemen from across Arizona.
A key development at the meeting was the decision by State Committeemen to amend the agenda and hold a chairman’s election following the resignation of the previous chair. Gina Swoboda was elected as Chairwoman with over 66% of votes in a three-way race.
“This result is not just a win for Gina but a clear indication of the trust and confidence our party places in her leadership abilities. Gina’s vision for the Republican Party of Arizona, her commitment to our core values, and her strong understanding of election law set us on a promising path for our party’s future,” stated party officials.
In addition to Swoboda’s election, other non-statutory officers were chosen. These include Gina Maloney as 1st Vice Chair, Shiry Sapir as 2nd Vice Chair after two ballots, Kris Morrissey as 3rd Vice Chair, Shirley Dye as Assistant Secretary, Elizabeth Kennedy as Assistant Treasurer, Carie Hughes as Sergeant-At-Arms, Brandon Turley as Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms, and Ian Murray as CD 4 Member At Large.
“Congratulations to Chairwoman Swoboda and all the newly elected Republican Party of Arizona officers. This team is dedicated to securing Arizona’s future. With a focus on aggressively registering Republican voters and securing victories in state and federal elections, our newly elected leaders are ready to expand the Republican majority in the Arizona legislature and pick up additional congressional seats, take back a U.S. Senate seat, and restore Republican leadership in the White House,” said party representatives.
The new leadership aims to unify members ahead of upcoming elections by focusing on voter registration efforts and increasing representation at both state and federal levels.
