Karrin Taylor Robson, a gubernatorial candidate in Arizona, has said that the “Big. Beautiful Bill” offers significant tax relief and supports immigration enforcement. This statement was made on the social media platform X.

“This bill is a historic tax cut for the middle class and has massive funding for ICE and immigration enforcement,” said Taylor Robson. “Yet Rep. Andy Biggs goes on the radio to trash President Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill again. Shameful swamp behavior.”

Arizona’s state tax legislation and immigration enforcement policies have been subjects of intense debate in recent years. The state has frequently introduced measures aimed at reducing income tax rates and expanding local immigration enforcement. For example, Arizona lawmakers recently proposed a 2024 bill to criminalize illegal border crossings at the state level, which has sparked disputes over federal versus state authority. Tax reforms have also been aimed at simplifying or flattening the state’s income tax structure. These debates often reflect broader political divisions concerning public safety, economic growth, and civil rights, as reported by Reuters.

According to the Arizona Department of Revenue, as of 2024, the effective state income tax rate for most middle-class households in Arizona falls between 2.5% and 3.5%. This follows recent tax reforms that established a flat 2.5% rate for most filers starting in 2023. The 2023 tax cut marked a reduction from the previous progressive tax system where rates reached up to 4.5% for higher earners, with the aim of boosting economic competitiveness, according to The Arizona Republic.

Recent federal appropriations indicate that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) received approximately $8.4 billion nationwide in 2023, with a significant portion allocated to operations in Arizona due to its proximity to the border. State-level funding for Arizona’s own immigration enforcement initiatives has also increased, with a 2024 legislative proposal seeking $30 million for local law enforcement participation in border enforcement efforts, according to The Arizona Mirror.

Robson is an Arizona business leader and Republican political figure who served on the Arizona Board of Regents and was a major gubernatorial candidate in 2022. Her policy focus includes border security, tax reduction, and deregulation. She has supported legislation strengthening state immigration enforcement and promoting economic growth, as detailed by The Arizona Republic.
