Karrin Taylor Robson, a gubernatorial candidate in Arizona, announced her intention to adopt a business-oriented strategy for deregulation, aligning with both national and state leadership efforts. This statement was made on the social media platform X.

“This is what happens when you put a business executive in charge,” said Taylor Robson. “Like President Donald Trump and Governor Glenn Youngkin, we’ll DOGE Arizona, roll back regulations, and cut waste, fraud, and abuse.”

Arizona has been actively pursuing deregulation at the state level to stimulate economic growth and reduce burdens on businesses. According to the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, Governor Doug Ducey’s administration has removed or simplified over 3,000 regulatory requirements since 2015 through executive orders. These actions have targeted “red tape” and aimed to encourage investment and job creation.

A 2024 report by the Goldwater Institute indicates that Arizona agencies have eliminated more than 3,500 regulations over the past decade. This effort has reportedly resulted in an estimated $200 million in cost savings for businesses and consumers due to reduced compliance costs and streamlined licensing requirements.

The Cardinal Institute reports that Virginia, under Governor Glenn Youngkin, implemented a regulatory reduction initiative modeled after Arizona’s approach. This initiative led to the elimination of over 25% of requirements in selected agencies. Meanwhile, Idaho achieved a 40% reduction in its regulatory code, reflecting broader national trends towards state deregulation.

According to the Arizona Republic, Karrin Taylor Robson is a business executive, attorney, and former member of the Arizona Board of Regents. She ran for governor in 2022, leveraging her experience as the founder of a land-use consulting firm and her leadership role in state policy debates.
