The performance highlights a significant achievement for the Grand Canyon Antelopes as they prepare for upcoming championships. The event saw both field and track athletes setting new standards in their respective disciplines.

Graduate student Taryn Burkett set a new school record in the triple jump with a distance of 13.41 meters, surpassing her previous mark and earning top rankings in the Mountain West Conference, West Region, and tying for fifth nationally. Junior Eva Lowder also broke a program record by clearing 4.35 meters in the pole vault, moving to No. 1 in the conference and among national leaders. On the track, senior Germain Lemaitre improved his own school record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:47.2, placing him second at the meet and high on regional lists. Graduate hurdler Maria Sartin lowered her program best to 59.33 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles.

Additional notable performances included Francisco Marques winning the men’s 110-meter hurdles with one of the fastest times regionally this season, while Taliyah Booker posted strong results in sprints and Blake Heller recorded a competitive long jump mark.

The Grand Canyon Antelopes compete as an intercollegiate athletics program based at Grand Canyon University according to their official website. They participate under NCAA Division I rules as members of the Western Athletic Conference according to their official website. The team is recognized for supporting student-athletes’ academic balance alongside athletic competition according to their official website.

With these recent achievements at Bryan Clay Invitational and only one regular-season meet remaining before next month’s Mountain West Championships, GCU’s athletes continue to build momentum for postseason competition.
