State schools chief Tom Horne will open the Arizona Youth Arts Month Festival at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza on Tuesday, March 31 at 9:00 a.m., according to an announcement from the State of Arizona Department of Education.
The festival, known as YAM Fest, aims to highlight the positive impact of arts education by showcasing the creativity and skill of young artists from across Arizona. The event will feature performances by choirs, orchestras, dance ensembles, percussion groups, and more from students throughout the state. The festival is scheduled to continue through 2:00 p.m.
According to the advisory, Horne is described as a strong supporter of arts programs for Arizona students. The event will bring together arts students statewide for a day dedicated to celebrating youth achievement in the arts.
The festival will take place at Wesley Bolin Plaza located on 17th Avenue north of Jefferson Street in Phoenix. Organizers say that YAM Fest is intended to demonstrate the value and importance of arts education within Arizona’s schools.
