Investigators seek information after woman injured in State Route 88 shooting

On the night of March 5, 2026, a woman was injured in a shooting incident on State Route 88 near milepost 203, close to Apache Junction. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), shots were fired from one vehicle at another, resulting in the woman sustaining a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital and is reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The AZDPS Major Crimes District is leading the investigation. No suspects have been arrested so far, and authorities continue their efforts to gather more information about the case.

The response to the incident included support from several law enforcement agencies, including the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, and Apache Junction Police Department.

AZDPS has requested assistance from the public as part of their ongoing investigation. “Anyone with information is asked to call 1-877-4AZ-TIPS or submit a tip online at azdps.gov/tips. Please reference incident I26013754,” officials stated.
