Rock blasting work will cause a full closure of US 93 northwest of Kingman on the night of Tuesday, Aug. 26, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The closure is scheduled from 8 to 9 p.m. between Betty Lane, just northwest of the I-40/US 93 interchange, and Coyote Pass, southeast of the US 93/State Route 68 interchange. ADOT has advised drivers that lane restrictions in the US 93 work zone will begin about one hour before the closure.
Crews will conduct a rock blasting test during this time as part of preparations for a series of upcoming blasting operations along US 93. Blasting work is set to resume on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and continue through October, which will require additional closures on US 93. The schedule may change depending on weather or other factors.
This activity is part of a $106 million project aimed at building a new I-40/US 93 interchange designed to create a direct connection and reduce delays for travelers between Las Vegas and Arizona. Construction for this project is expected to last until 2027.
