No full freeway closures are planned in the Phoenix area this weekend, October 10-13, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). The agency advises drivers to focus on safety, especially with rain expected over the next several days. Drivers are encouraged to slow down on wet roads and maintain extra distance from other vehicles.

ADOT warns motorists not to drive into areas with standing or flowing storm runoff. The department also reminds drivers to stay alert, avoid distractions, wear seat belts, and never drive while impaired.

While there will be no full closures along Valley freeways this weekend, ADOT urges caution in all active work zones. Information about any ramp or lane restrictions can be found online at azdot.gov.

For real-time highway conditions, travelers can visit ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, use the az511 app for Apple or Android devices, or call 511.

ADOT is responsible for planning and constructing new freeways and other improvements in the Phoenix area as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for Maricopa County. Most current projects receive funding from Proposition 400—a sales tax approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004—and future projects will be supported by Proposition 479, which extends the existing half-cent tax following voter approval last year.
