Read The Word co-founder Jenny Clark said that her organization is prepared to protect Arizona families benefiting from school choice amid Governor Katie Hobbs’ renewed efforts to curb Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESAs).
“Bring it on, Governor Katie Hobbs,” said Clark. “We can’t WAIT for you to shout your continued plans to attack Arizona families on ESAs and those who benefit from school choice in January. The clearer you are on your attack plans, the better. We’re ready to defend AZ families!”
Arizona’s ESA program remains a central issue in education policy, offering families state-funded flexibility for private or home-based schooling. According to the program’s framework, Governor Hobbs has proposed reforms, sparking opposition from advocates defending parental choice and education freedom.
The ESA program currently serves over 70,000 students statewide. Families can use funds for private school tuition, homeschooling, or specialized education services, providing flexibility that has increased enrollment significantly since the program expanded in 2022.
Education research indicates that school choice participants report greater satisfaction and improved academic outcomes. Surveys show that more than 80% of ESA families in Arizona prefer alternative learning environments over traditional public schools.
Clark is also the founder of Love Your School Arizona, a nonprofit advocating for parental rights and educational freedom. A mother of five, she has been a prominent voice for expanding Arizona’s school choice and ESA programs.
Read The Word is a Christian nonprofit co-founded by Clark dedicated to supporting families in faith-based education and strengthening moral and academic development through Scripture-centered learning programs and community outreach.
