Brian Jason Gishie, a 46-year-old resident of Ganado, Arizona, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for assaulting an intimate partner. The sentence was handed down by Senior United States District Judge David G. Campbell on July 16. After serving his prison term, Gishie will be under supervised release for three years.
Gishie, a member of the Navajo Nation, had previously admitted guilt to charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and strangling an intimate partner. The incident occurred on June 20, 2024, at his residence in Greasewood, Arizona. During the attack, Gishie used a baseball bat to hit the victim multiple times and later strangled her. The victim required medical attention due to injuries sustained during the assault.
Gishie’s criminal history includes several domestic violence-related offenses. He was convicted of Aggravated Domestic Violence in Maricopa County in 2004 and Assault by Strangling in the District of Arizona in 2019.
The investigation into this case was carried out by the FBI Phoenix Division’s Flagstaff office along with the Navajo Nation Police Department. The prosecution was managed by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
