Salt River Project will bring more than ten tons of snow to the Phoenix Zoo for the animals on June 12. Visitors will have the opportunity to walk through zoo trails and observe a variety of animals, including meerkats, birds, African lions, and orangutans interacting with the snow or engaging in other cooling activities.
Attendees can also enjoy free ice cream provided by Ice Cream Pedaler between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the zoo entrance while supplies last. The Salt River Project team will be present at the event to share energy efficiency tips and information about saving on electricity bills.
Customers of Salt River Project are eligible for a $10 discount on zoo admission every Friday and Saturday until September 30 by using a special discount link.
The event is scheduled for Friday, June 12, at the Phoenix Zoo located at 455 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix. Entry begins at 6:00 a.m. for members and 7:00 a.m. for general admission.
According to organizers, several animal encounters with snow are planned throughout the morning, including Sumatran tigers at 6:30 a.m., African lions at 7:00 a.m., meerkats, secretary birds, and red river hogs at 7:30 a.m., otters at 8:00 a.m., orangutans at 8:30 a.m., and Andean bears at 9:00 a.m.
