Salt River Project will bring more than ten tons of snow to the Phoenix Zoo animal habitats on June 12, offering a unique experience for both animals and guests. The event will take place at the Phoenix Zoo, located at 455 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix, with member entry beginning at 6 a.m. and general public entry at 7 a.m.
Throughout the morning, zoo visitors can watch various animals—including Sumatran tigers, African lions, meerkats, secretarybirds, red river hogs, otters, orangutans, and Andean bears—enjoying snow or cool treats. Scheduled times for animal interactions with the snow range from 6:30 a.m. through 9 a.m., though times and participating animals are subject to change.
Guests arriving between 6 and 11 a.m. can also receive free ice cream from Ice Cream Pedaler while supplies last at the zoo entrance. In addition to these activities, Salt River Project staff will be onsite to provide energy efficiency tips and information for attendees.
As part of its ongoing partnership with the zoo this summer season, Salt River Project is offering its customers a $10 discount on admission every Friday and Saturday until September 30 through an online discount link provided by the utility company.
The event aims to offer relief from high temperatures for both animals and visitors during Arizona’s summer months.
