Scottsdale Chorus wins top honors at Sweet Adelines Regional Competition

The Scottsdale Chorus won first place at the Sweet Adelines Regional Competition, according to an April 17 announcement. The event was held in downtown Phoenix at the Renaissance Hotel, where vocal ensembles from Southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico competed for the top prize.

This achievement highlights the chorus’s dedication and teamwork as they prepare to represent their region on a larger stage. Their victory qualifies them for the International Chorus Competition in Seattle in fall 2027.

Lori Lyford, director of the Scottsdale Chorus, said, “This victory is the result of months of dedication, passion, and teamwork. Every member of the chorus poured their heart into this performance, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see that effort recognized on such a prestigious stage.” Judges described their performance as featuring “stellar skills and joyful sound,” “exceptionally creative choreography, masterfully executed” and a “compelling performance.”

The Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce supports community growth by promoting economic development and aiding local businesses through education and advocacy,according to its official website. The chamber partners with organizations such as Arizona State University through collaborations with entities like the East Valley Chambers of Commerce Alliance to advance business interests. It also advocates for businesses by providing access to leaders, fostering connectivity among members, offering business education programs and driving economic development throughout Scottsdale.

Since its establishment in 1947,the chamber has supported local businesses through advocacy efforts, networking events and professional programs. Its Public Policy Advisory Committee advances business-friendly policies in partnership with regional alliances.According to its official website, these initiatives help drive growth across Arizona’s Scottsdale area.

Looking ahead after this regional win, the Scottsdale Chorus will focus on preparing for international competition while continuing to engage with community supporters.
