WASHINGTON – Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with leaders and caregivers representing Arizona’s home care and hospice providers to discuss ensuring Arizona seniors and caregivers can access the home health services they need.
“Caregiving for a sick or elderly loved one is often a full-time job. We’re working with local home health and hospice organizations to deliver the support and resources needed to care for all Arizonans – including in rural, tribal, and underserved communities,” said Sinema.
In recent years, home health providers have endured a series of rate cuts making it more difficult to provide care, serve the growing demand for at-home care and hospice services, keep up with rising costs, and address severe workforce shortages. Throughout her time in the Senate, Sinema has been a consistent supporter of home health providers to ensure they can continue to expand and serve rural and marginalized communities. She is also working to expand hospice and palliative services to areas of Arizona who lack these critical providers.
During the meeting, Sinema discussed her support for multiple proposals making at-home care more accessible and affordable for seniors and traditionally underserved communities – including the Credit for Caring Act, the Homecare for Seniors Act, and the Preserving Access to Home Health Act.
