The Arizona State Senate has announced a reformation of its committee structure, focusing on the protection of children. Senator David Farnsworth revealed that the Senate Committee on Transportation and Technology will now include a focus on missing children, renaming it to the Senate Committee on Transportation, Technology and Missing Children. Senator Farnsworth will chair this committee.

Throughout the legislative session, the committee plans to hold ten hearings. These sessions aim to gather crucial information and testimony from various stakeholders to aid in crafting legislation aimed at protecting Arizona's children. The committee is composed of both Republican and Democrat legislators.

Senator Farnsworth highlighted the urgency of addressing this issue by stating, "According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety's website, there are over 1,100 missing children in Arizona as of today." He described this situation as "both disturbing and unacceptable," emphasizing the need for increased oversight and accountability. He added, "Protecting vulnerable children who are being kidnapped, murdered, or forced into the sex trafficking world needs to be a priority, especially when it's due to state negligence."

The senator expressed his commitment to fostering meaningful discussions that could lead to effective changes in policy. The first hearing for this newly formed committee is scheduled for January 9th.
