As Arizona's Legislature aims to adjust the state budget, a proposal has been introduced to dismantle the Arizona Commerce Authority. Senator Hoffman has put forward SB1044, advocating for the immediate cessation of what he describes as "reckless spending" by this agency. This move follows findings from a recent audit by the Arizona Auditor General that highlighted questionable expenditures under the Hobbs Administration. These included substantial sums allocated for entertainment expenses such as alcohol, corporate merchandise, and sponsorships for high-profile events like the WM Phoenix Open and the Super Bowl.

"In today's State of the State Address, Hobbs continued to show how out of touch Democrats are with the people of Arizona," stated Senator Hoffman. He criticized the agency's operations under Governor Katie Hobbs, accusing it of becoming "the epicenter for waste, mismanagement, and luxury spending at a time when Arizonans are struggling in Democrats' failing economy." Hoffman emphasized the need for government accountability and fiscal responsibility, urging support for his repeal proposal.
