State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne has expressed his condolences following the death of former Attorney General Mark Brnovich. In a statement, Horne described Brnovich as “an outstanding, dedicated public servant and a devoted family man.” He acknowledged their past political rivalry but noted that they eventually became friends, adding, “for which I am grateful.”

Horne extended his sympathies to Brnovich’s family, hoping they find peace during this difficult time. The State of Arizona Department of Education, where Horne currently serves, is among those mourning the loss.

Brnovich served as Arizona’s Attorney General from 2015 to 2023. During his tenure, he was known for his focus on consumer protection and immigration issues.
