Ted Geisler, president of Arizona Public Service, discussed his approach to leadership and customer service in a profile published by the Phoenix Business Journal on Mar. 26. Geisler described how his background, including growing up training horses, has influenced his commitment to service and hard work as he leads the state’s largest electric utility.

Arizona Public Service provides electricity to about 1.4 million customers across the state, according to the official website. The company serves a wide range of communities within its territory, including border towns as well as both rural and urban areas, according to the official website.

As a regulated utility company operating under its corporate structure, Arizona Public Service aims to supply electricity throughout its service area while offering related services such as power delivery, outage support, service setup and transfer options for customers, according to the official website.

The company also offers assistance programs designed to help eligible households with their energy bills. For example, the Energy Support Program provides discounts based on income level and household size for those who qualify, according to the official website.

Geisler said that he approaches his role with “a clear focus on how our decisions support the customers we serve and the communities we call home.” He added that he still considers Arizona Public Service “a hometown business” despite its size.

Looking ahead, Geisler discussed what it will take for Arizona Public Service to reliably meet growing demand in a rapidly expanding state.
