Paradise Valley Unified School District announced on May 12 that twenty-two high school seniors from PVSchools have been named as finalists for the 2026 National Merit Scholarship program. The district also reported that two of these students have already been selected as scholarship winners, with additional award announcements expected this summer.
The recognition is considered a significant achievement for the students and the district. To become a finalist, each student must meet rigorous academic standards and fulfill all requirements set by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The process begins with Semifinalist status before advancing to Finalist standing, making this accomplishment noteworthy within the education community.
“This is a significant accomplishment, and we couldn’t be more proud of them!” said representatives from Paradise Valley Unified School District in their announcement. The district extended its congratulations to all twenty-two seniors representing Horizon High School, Paradise Valley High School, Pinnacle High School, and Shadow Mountain High School.
The list of recognized students includes Anna Parker and Taryn Falvey from Horizon High School as scholarship winners so far. Other finalists come from across several schools in the district: Griffin Connolly, Miles Chovnick, Oriana Manfredi (Horizon); Kajsa Burns, Tejas Dhulipalla, Archana Gurudu, Prashansa Narnur, Maatank Parashar, Aarush Reddy, Shyam Sathisan, Tyler Surguine, Liam Whelan (Paradise Valley); Aadarsh Vikram, Shivani Satheeshkumar, Esha Rastogi, Kristian Kasabov, Kylie Busby and Grant Beck (Pinnacle); Jack Moyer and Ryan Rojahn (Shadow Mountain).
Paradise Valley Unified School District operates under a board of trustees and serves the Paradise Valley area in Arizona. The district specializes in public schooling within the education sector; it promotes anti-racism policies as well as equity and inclusion efforts through its practices according to the official website.
