The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has reopened two lanes on US 60 between Superior and the Globe-Miami area after completing interim repairs to a section damaged by recent flooding. The repairs addressed areas near milepost 241, west of Miami, where floodwaters had washed away embankments and damaged the roadway. The damage initially forced traffic down to a single alternating lane.

Repair efforts began on October 20 following the flood event. The State Transportation Board allocated $3 million for the necessary work on October 23, which enabled crews to restore both lanes of travel.

ADOT is also reminding drivers that previously scheduled closures will continue as part of an ongoing bridge replacement project along this route. These closures may occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between Superior and Globe. During closure periods, motorists can use state routes 177 and 77 through Winkelman as an alternative route, though this detour adds approximately 75 miles to the journey.

Information about the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Project—including closure schedules—can be found at azdot.gov/US60QueenCreekBridgeProject. For real-time updates on highway conditions, travelers are encouraged to visit ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov or use the AZ511 mobile app for Apple or Android devices, or call 511.
