The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will close the southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) ramp to eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) in Chandler for about two weeks starting late Friday, February 20. The closure is part of an ongoing project to widen the Santan Freeway.

According to ADOT, drivers should expect delays and plan alternate routes while pavement repair and replacement work takes place beginning at 10 p.m. Friday. Alternate options include exiting southbound Loop 101 onto Price Road before joining eastbound Loop 202 or using Chandler Boulevard and Dobson Road to access the freeway.

The improvements at the Loop 101/Loop 202 interchange are included in ADOT’s $200 million Santan Freeway widening project between Price Freeway and Val Vista Drive in Chandler and Gilbert. The project is managed by ADOT in partnership with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), which serves as the metropolitan planning organization for the Phoenix area.

The initiative is part of MAG’s Regional Transportation Plan and is funded through Proposition 400, a voter-approved measure that provides a half-cent sales tax for transportation projects in the region.

“Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov and via the AZ511 app (download free for Apple and Android devices). ADOT also provides highway condition updates via its X feed, @ArizonaDOT,” stated ADOT.

ADOT manages various facilities across Arizona, including rest areas, snowplow operations with specialized equipment, and highway cameras for monitoring according to its official website: https://azdot.gov/home.
