A 13-mile section of US 191 running through Clifton and Morenci has received a new road surface as part of an Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) project. The $11.4 million initiative began in July 2024 and involved applying a micro-surface to the existing asphalt, updating pavement markings, and making spot repairs along mileposts 160 to 173. This portion of the highway starts south of Clifton and extends northwest toward Morenci in Greenlee County.

According to ADOT, “This improvement is another way ADOT safely connects people and empowers the economy across Arizona. Prioritized through annual updates to ADOT’s Five-Year Transportation Facilities Construction Program, it supports ADOT’s commitment to protecting our state’s investment in highway pavement and bridges.”

The project was included as part of ADOT’s regular review process for transportation infrastructure needs, aiming to maintain the condition of major roads and bridges throughout the state.

Further information about this improvement can be found on the US 191: Table Top Road Pavement Rehabilitation page at azdot.gov/projects > Southeast.
