NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission to near-Earth asteroid Bennu will help our understanding of the origin and evolution of the early Solar System, organic materials important to life on Earth, and provide insight on how small asteroids migrate from the Main Asteroid belt to the inner Solar System. The spacecraft is expected to collect the asteroid sample next summer. The protected sample will return to Earth in September 2023. Currently, the science and flight dynamics teams are acquiring additional data and mapping details of the recently selected “Final Four” sample sites.
