It appears as if voters in Arizona want their voices heard like never before.
State voters are currently on pace to have record turnouts as the 2020 election nears, according to AZFamily.com
The Secretary of State’s Office reported that as of Oct. 31, roughly 3.9 million people have registered vote, a figure higher than the total number of Arizona residents in 1990 when 3.6 million people lived in the entire state. Recently, about 300,000 more Arizonans have registered to vote. There was also a major boost in voter registration of more than 54,000 people registering from July to the end of October.
If this trend keeps going, more than 3 million people could vote in the 2020 presidential election in Arizona, a history-making number for the state.
While the parties’ intense attempts to register to new voters is partially the reason for the increase, President Trump is said to be a huge reason.
Political pollster Paul Bentz said, according to AZFamily, “The president, like him or not, is drawing a lot of attention on other issues and turned out folks on botht the right and the left.”
It is not clear if Trump is bringing in new voters who want to support him, or those who are registering to make sure he doesn’t get elected for a second term. Bentz added that because the Republican and Democratic parties have attracted many new voters within the last year, it’s difficult to tell on which side the new voters will cast their ballots.
And there’s a bit of time left for the undecided voters to come to a decision.
