Arizona has decided to keep all the schools closed until April 10 in order to safeguard children against the spread of COVID-19.

Gov. Doug Ducey has decided to keep the schools closed for two more weeks in Arizona after consultations with the Schools Chief Kathy Hoffman.

“The children are at risk of attaining the virus from their fellow students as well as the staff," Hoffman said. "Right now, staffing is a great challenge. We want the children to return to schools only when it is completely safe for them.”

Legislators have advised school authorities to start online classes for students. Parents and children alike are concerned about the reopening of schools and whether the schools will be opened for the end of the school year.

According to Tucson News, school authorities including Hoffman have raised certain issues about online instructions, like non availability of internet and computers at some households, complex learning requirements of differently abled children as well as end-of-year exams.

However, the Arizona House and Senate views safety of children and staff as a more pressing matter and urged school authorities to arrange for online classes and home assignments until the coronavirus pandemic is dealt with effectively.
