Earlier this month, Gov. Doug Ducey announced that State Policy Reports ranked Arizona third in the country for economic momentum.

All 50 states’ economic momentum is factored by their growth in personal income, employment and population, with Arizona among the top four states – No. 3 alongside Montana – for employment growth and population growth.

Ducey, a Republican, said in a press release issued by his office on Oct. 7 that the Grand Canyon State enjoyed one of the hottest economies in the nation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As we follow commonsense guidance to keep people safe and employed, we can continue to be a national leader going forward,” the governor said in the release. “Arizona’s hardworking small business owners, innovative entrepreneurs and diligent workforce drive our economy, and we will continue to work together to come back from COVID-19 stronger than ever.”

The release added that new data from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed a 15.2% jump in Arizona’s median household income.
