Maricopa Supreme Court Judge Randall Warner made a recent ruling in favor of the Arizona Republican Party allowing for some mail-in ballot envelopes to be inspected and compared to signatures on file.

The Arizona Republican Party posted a press release with the announcement on their Twitter page on Nov. 30.

The party filed a petition requesting the review and asked for a number of “duplicate” ballots to be reviewed and compared with original ballots.

In response to the ruling, Arizona Republican Chairman Kelli Ward said the ruling is a “step in the right direction” and will help restore the public’s confidence in the election process.

“The Republican party of Arizona continues to fight for access to records it can legally acquire, which has been extremely limited, to fight for the level of transparency that is essential to vote of confidence in our elections,” she wrote. “Arizona voters deserve to have a system that they can trust, and it is incumbent on all of our elected officials to go above and beyond to provide them with confidence that their legal votes were accurately counted in that no illegal votes were counted.”

The ruling comes after Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Governor Doug Ducey certified the results of the November 2020 general election.
