Gov. Doug Ducey is under fire after President Donald Trump called into a hearing saying he certified the vote too early.
Ducey declared Biden the winner of the state last Tuesday. Biden won the state over Trump by 10,457 votes.
“He just rushed to sign certificates so that Kelly gets into the Senate as soon as possible. What is that all about?” Trump said when calling into a hearing on Arizona’s election.
Trump’s statements came right before Attorney General William Barr told the Associated Press no widespread election fraud occurred.
“In Arizona, we have some of the strongest election laws in the country, laws that prioritize accountability and clearly lay out procedures for conducting, canvassing, and even contesting the results of an election,” Ducey said in tweet.
Ducey said he previously bragged about the state’s security to the Trump administration.
He challenged anyone disaffected by the process to challenge it.
“The canvass of the election triggers a 5-day window for any elector to bring a credible challenge to the election results in court. If you want to contest the results, now is the time. Bring your challenges,” Ducey tweeted.
