In a video released by Project Veritas and posted by Charlie Kirk, a paid staff member of Sen. Mark Kelly’s campaign said they are directed to tell voters that Kelly is pro-life if asked, even though that's not true.

“Sen. Kelly staff admits they are lying to voters on purpose. He is absolutely not pro-life,” Brian Burch, president of CatholicVote, said in response to the video.

CatholicVote is a non-partisan political advocacy group. Burch told Grand Canyon Times he surmised that Kelly is lying to voters in an attempt to win more moderate votes.

In the Project Veritas video, the reporter asked a Kelly campaign staffer what she would tell voters on the abortion issue. The Kelly campaign staffer, identified as Evynn Bronson, told the journalist, “I would say Mark Kelly is pro-life but also pro keeping the government out of our health care.”

A few seconds later, though, she admits that “absolutely he is not pro-life.”

Project Veritas confirmed the staffer is paid by the Kelly campaign. In the video, Bronson says the Kelly campaign “can’t be too far left-leaning otherwise that will scare away a lot of those independents. … He has to play both sides.”

Bronson said Kelly won’t “say anything outright on what he’s going to do; … it would scare people away.”

Kirk tweeted out the video, tagging Kelly: “Paid staffer who reveals campaign’s deceptive strategy to win over independents and moderate Republicans.”

Fox News describes Kelly as pro-choice but says he has not clarified his stance on abortion limits.

The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List claims Democrat candidates “continue to dodge the question of whether there are any limits on abortion they support.”

In the most recent debate between Blake Masters and Kelly, Kelly said he supports Roe v. Wade.

"Under Roe v. Wade, there were protections and there were restrictions that were allowed under that law," Kelly said, according to the Fox report, "and late-term abortion in this country only happens when there is a serious problem. And that's what I support.”

Mission for Arizona, a group funded by the Arizona Democratic Party, on its Twitter account urges voters to vote straight Democratic on the ballot this November, including casting ballots for Kelly.
